Why Participation for Change?
Civil society is where people come together to make a positive
difference to their lives and the lives of others:
- for mutual support,
- to pursue shared interests,
- to further a cause they care about
- for fun and friendship.
We strongly believe that civil society reaches across borders
beyond the country where we live and work. We are all citizens of
Europe: an active and vibrant civil society comes from us being as
engaged with what is happening in other countries or in Brussels as
on our own doorstep and in our organisations.
What is Participation for Change?
Participation for Change is a project run as part of the
ENNA
network. It aims to
use regular e-conferences to develop a network of organisations
across Europe that are enabled to support each other, share
information and become increasingly effective.
This site will continue to host regular e-conferences and to support, encourage and develop
connections between its members.
Background
Participation for Change was set up to continue the work of the
European
Network of National Associations (ENNA). Its aim was to provide
a forum for civil society organisations to exchange a wide range of
ideas, to share good practice and to collaborate more closely on
issues facing European communities and their citizens.
The pilot project of Participation for Change involved partners
from five European countries:
The pilot project lasted a year and was funded by the European
Commission’s "Europe for Citizens Programme". It explored a
combination of e-mentoring, e-conferencing and facilitating
connections between members. With e-conferencing the undoubted
success story of the project, this is the aspect of the project
that is now going to be developed further on this website,
supported by a new presence on Facebook to facilitate connection and
communication between our members.
